What will you discover?
Camp Tycony is all about discovery. Kids have the opportunity to have fun exploring nature, finding new talents, trying new activities, gaining independence, and making lasting friendships & memories. Our summer day camp program serves children ages 5-14 (must have completed kindergarten). Camp Tycony has been a tradition for more than 65 years, and this year’s program promises to be even better. Summer Camp 2024 will begin on May 28th and run through July 26th. Registration opens in March!
More than a day camp!
With 52 acres of wooded land along the Wildcat Creek, we offer the perfect opportunity for kids to explore and grow. Our Day camp program strives to instill the values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility in all of our campers through morning thoughts of the day, carefully designed programs, and intentional interactions with staff. Camp Tycony is the perfect environment for a week of laughing, playing, and learning.

Camp Tycony Curriculum
Camp Programs and Activities
Swimming and swim lessons at the YMCA downtown, theme weeks, campfire cooking, archery, drama/music, arts & crafts, lots of messy play and good ol’ fashion, outdoors summer fun! Switch out those computer and phone screens for some sunscreen.
Archery
We use Genesis compound bows to teach campers the art involved in archery. Campers will learn the meaning behind: “How do you shoot a 50? One arrow at a time.” and “Aim small, miss small.”
Swimming
Every camper will swim twice a week. Campers will be tested the first day to determine their swim ability level. Campers with limited swim ability will be required to wear a life vest until they can demonstrate to a lifeguard they have improved enough to go without one.
Athletics
Ball games, tag games, and circle games are available for every camper to dive deeper into being active.
Creative Arts
What can you create with your imagination and a few craft supplies? Come find out.
Acting/Drama
Show off your acting skills as you perform plays, skits, and monologues. You could even write your own scenes.
Hiking
We have 52 acres of woods, hills, and creek banks to travel. Discover “Dead Man’s Hill” and “Sandy Beach”. Discover shells, rocks, sticks, turtles, and frogs. We put the Nature in Nature Hike.

Weekly Camper
Y-Members: $150.00 (full-week, 4-5 days)
There is a one-time enrollment fee of $25.00 per camper that will be due prior to your child’s first day at Camp Tycony. YMCA Members can waive the fee (find code here)!
2nd Child Discount
Full-week registrations come with a multi-child discount of $15.00 for the second child. For the multi-child discount code click here.
3rd Child Discount
Full-week registrations come with a multi-child discount of $30.00 for the third child. To apply these discounts, please see the Camp Online Registration form.
