COVID-19 Operational Procedures

Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy camp experience remains our top priority.  We feel that, given our large, 52-acre outdoor property, we can follow social distancing guidelines in our activities. Because we will spend so much time outdoors, it is imperative that children come to camp each day with cold-weather gear (Coats, Gloves, Hats, Warm Shoes/Snow Boots, and even a change of clothes). We are following all recommendations and guidelines established by the CDC, local and state health authorities, the American Camp Association (ACA), and the YMCA of the USA. We will continue to keep lines of communication open and transparent as day camp approaches. One thing we know for sure: Kids will have the BEST WINTER EVER. Please find below our current COVID-19 Operational Procedures and please note that these procedures may change in response to new information or guidelines released by the CDC or other local/state health authorities:

  • All campers and staff are required to wear a face mask (or face shield) while at YMCA Camp Tycony.
  • Campers must provide their own masks.
  • All staff members will be fever screened before their shift begins. YMCA Camp Tycony will follow CDC guidelines for temperature checks.
  • All staff members will be provided with the appropriate PPE, including masks.
  • All campers and staff will wash their hands regularly.
  • Outdoor handwashing and sanitization stations have been installed around YMCA Camp Tycony.
  • Visitors and tours will not be permitted during day camp sessions.
  • All hydrating stations will be monitored by a staff member and cleaned frequently.
  • Equipment and activity supplies will be cleaned between uses.
  • Door handles will be sanitized regularly throughout the day.
  • Restrooms will be cleaned and sanitized regularly throughout the day.
  • All campers must bring a lunch with them to YMCA Camp Tycony. All items must be in a lunch box/bag or sack.
  • Staff will wear gloves while helping to open items from lunch boxes.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in all lunch areas.
  • Check-In will be between 6:30am and 9:00am ONLY. No camper can check in past 9:00am.
  • Please pull up on the circular drive when entering YMCA Camp Tycony. Parent or Guardians must always remain in their vehicles.
  • Staff members will fever screen each camper at their vehicle. If a child’s temperature is higher than 100.4 degrees, they will not be permitted to stay. They cannot return to YMCA Camp Tycony until they are fever free, without medication, for 72 hours.
  • Check-Out will be between 4:00pm and 6:00pm.
  • Please pull up through the circular drive when entering YMCA Camp Tycony. Parent/Guardians must always remain in their vehicles.
  • A staff member will walk each camper to their vehicle.
  • If you need to pick up your camper before 4:00pm, please call the Camp Tycony Office at 765-434-3711 at least 20 minutes prior to avoid a wait.
